ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Read work order. Set up cart. Lay down drop cloths or masking tape and paper. Remove fixtures if needed. Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scarpers, brushes, steel wool and sanding machines. Bring bucket over using cart. Mix paint in bucket.  Fill up air sprayer. Pour paint into paint trowel or tray. Use roller with long handle to paint surfaces or air gun to spray surfaces. Roll or spray surfaces in an up & down motion. This movement is repetitive. Some location will require hand painting using trowel. Use scaffold for high level surfaces. When using scaffold complete work from the waist level and up.  This could be 25-100% of the day depending on assignment. Erect scaffolds and ladders.

Wall paper: Place strips of wallpaper onto table.  Use clamp to keep wallpaper in place. Use roller to roll glue compound onto strips of wallpaper. Raise ends and lightly fold wallpaper.  Set finished strip to side. Roll glue onto several wallpaper strips and carry over to work area.  Align wallpaper to wall, using plate to smooth and get air bubbles out. This will activate the glue to the walls. Cut end of wallpaper if too long. Use scaffold for high level surfaces.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities are essential in the daily execution of the position:

Painters can be tasked to perform any of the following on Leopardo projects:

  1. Surface preparation
    1. Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers
    2. Cover surfaces with dropcloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting
    3. Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, sanding machines, etc.
  2. Apply primers, sealers, under-coats, and finish paint coats
    1. Brush and roll applications
    2. Spray applications
  3. Maintenance
    1. Touch-ups
    2. Repairs
  4. Apply wall coverings
    1. Prepare adhesives
    2. Install coverings
  5. Operate, clean, and maintain equipment
    1. Brushes and rollers
    2. Sprayers
    3. Pumps
    4. Mixers
    5. Drywall taping tools
  6. Erect scaffolds and ladders

Supervisory Requirements: None.

Education / Experience Requirements:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Must be a union painter in good standing with the union.

    4. Protected floors (e.g. plastic-covered floors, plywood, Ram board)
    5. Ladders
    6. Equipment/machinery (e.g. aerial lifts)
    7. Scaffolds (usually plank-type surfaces)
  1. Equipment used can include:
    1. Hard hats (worn 100% of the time)
    2. Radios (e.g. walkie-talkies)
    3. Long pants, shirt
    4. Leather work boots
  1. Occasional specialty Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other specialty items:
    1. Safety glasses (worn 100% of the time), face shields
    2. Ear plugs, muffs
  • Dust masks, respirators
  1. Full-body harness
  2. Gloves, Tyvek suits
  3. Fire extinguishers
  1. Tools and equipment can include:
    1. Hand tools – Buckets, brushes, rollers, etc.
    2. Power tools – Mixers, sprayers, compressors, pressure washers, etc.
    3. Mechanical-moving devices – wheel barrows, gondolas, carts, hand trucks, etc.
    4. Access equipment – aerial lifts, scaffolds, ladders, etc.
