National Account Executive, Contract Logistics – Chicago/Joliet, IL

Summary: The National Account Executive will contact, network, build, and maintain relationships with prospective customers.  The incumbent will respond to customer inquiries and provide quotes, information and solutions quickly and professionally. The National Account Executive will work closely with the G&D Contract Logistics Division management on pricing, determination of areas of focus, and development of opportunities.  The primary intent will be to sell contract logistics, value-added warehousing and distribution, packaging, and supply chain/materials management asset-based services. The incumbent will be responsible for meeting agreed-upon activity, revenue and profit goals.


  • Develop new business in target markets in the Midwestern and Southeastern U.S.
  • Prospect for leads to build a pipeline, including a heavy focus on establishing contact with new customers who are not familiar with G&D
  • Independently generate new contract logistics, value-added warehousing and distribution, packaging, and supply chain/materials management sales revenue
  • Use both traditional and electronic communication tools to make contact with prospective, current and former customers
  • Identify business opportunities for company services
  • Create quotations and sales proposals for company services
  • Collaborate with operations and support groups to manage quotation, selection and customer on-boarding process
  • Translate business opportunities into incremental revenue through strong selling
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency
  • Maintain and update accurate information in the company's operating systems


  • Minimum 3 years’ Contract Logistics, Warehousing, Distribution, Packaging, and Supply Chain/Materials Management Sales experience
  • Detail oriented with a strong desire to get things done accurately, efficiently, and timely
  • Demonstrated success providing stellar customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Mature, professional, courteous, and able to communicate timely in a fast-paced environment
  • References should describe you as honest with a high level of integrity and a great work ethic
  • Being a team player with a positive attitude and good sense of humor is helpful
  • Closer - Hunter mentality; Strategic Thinking ability
  • Intermediate computer skills in Excel, Word, and Logistics systems preferred
  • Four year college degree preferred

Required Credentials: Valid state-issued Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance

Location :  Joliet and Chicago IL areas

Travel : Estimated 30% within Midwest and Southeast U.S.

Compensation : Base salary, plus sales incentives
